Guerneville is a small, friendly town with a big personality
Whether you're here for adventure or relaxation, there's something for everyone. From floating down the Russian River to hiking through old-growth redwoods, tasting world-class wines to exploring the dramatic Sonoma Coast — your days here will be as full or as lazy as you want them to be.
The Russian River is your backyard at Creekside. In summer, swim right off our beach, rent kayaks and canoes, or float lazily downstream. Johnson's Beach in town has a roped swimming area and kayak rentals. The river is at its warmest from June through September.
The Russian River Valley is one of California's premier wine regions, famous for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Over 100 wineries are within a 30-minute drive. In town, enjoy craft breweries and tasting rooms within walking distance of the inn.
The Sonoma Coast is a 30-minute drive west on Highway 116. Dramatic cliffs, tide pools, sea stacks, and secluded beaches stretch for miles. Goat Rock Beach at the mouth of the Russian River is a must-see, and Bodega Bay is perfect for seafood and whale watching.
Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve is just minutes away, with trails winding through ancient old-growth coast redwoods — some over 1,400 years old. Beyond the reserve, Austin Creek State Recreation Area offers more remote backcountry trails.
There's always something going on in the Russian River area
Guerneville has a surprisingly great food scene. From farm-to-table restaurants to casual taquerias, Thai food to wood-fired pizza — all within walking distance.
Browse antique shops, local art galleries, and unique boutiques along Main Street and in neighboring Sebastopol and Healdsburg.
The Russian River area hosts events year-round, from the famous Lazy Bear Weekend to the Stumptown Daze parade and the Russian River Jazz & Blues Festival.
Sometimes the best thing to do is nothing at all. Read a book on your deck, soak in the hot tub, or just listen to the river and the redwoods.
